Patrick Bundock is an American dog trainer and behaviorist with deep roots in the canine world. Coming from a family involved in professional training, kenneling, and conformation for 5 generations, Patrick has dedicated his life to understanding canine behavior and the unique bond between humans and dogs. His no-nonsense, results-driven approach helps dog owners make sense of their pet’s behavior with clarity and compassion.
In 1995, Patrick supported the U.S. FBI’s search and cadaver dog operations during the Oklahoma City bombing. A year later, he joined forces with Australian dog training pioneer David Schmidtke—founder of K-9 Dog Training Melbourne, one of the largest and most respected training clubs in Australia. Together, they launched K-9 Dog Training Bangkok, which has since trained over 10,000 dogs across Thailand and Southeast Asia.
David Schmidtke was a key figure in Australia’s “Golden Age” of dog training in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The groundbreaking methods of this period inspired a generation of trainers and helped shape modern training practices in Australia. As Patrick’s mentor and later business partner, David brought his extensive experience and innovation to K-9 Bangkok, helping establish it as a premier training center in the region.
Together, Patrick and David have worked with elite units including the Royal Thai Police K9 Unit, Royal Thai Army, and the Royal Veterinary & Remount Department. Patrick led major reform efforts for military and law enforcement dog programs, developed contraband detection dog training for Bangkok International Airport, and was instrumental in founding the K9 Unit for Task Force 90, a special operations counter-terrorism force. He has been recognized by the Royal Thai Army with an occupational badge from the Royal Veterinary & Remount Department for his contributions.
Patrick has also provided dogs and training for film and television—including work with National Geographic, Greenies, Subaru, Ford, and several seasons of Cesar Millan’s shows—and served for over a decade as the personal dog trainer to HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana.
Their shared mission is to elevate the standards of dog training in Asia through experience, innovation, and a deep understanding for the canine-human bond.
